Holdout Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 24, 2026

Holdout ("we", "us") is a browser extension and web app that helps you save money at Nike and J.Crew Factory by tracking prices, surfacing working coupon codes, and helping you activate Rakuten cash back. This policy explains exactly what we collect, why, and what we never do.

What we collect

What we do NOT collect

How the extension works

The extension reads the page you are on only for the supported stores (Nike and J.Crew Factory) to find the cart total and product details, and it requests the public Rakuten merchant page for the store using your existing browser session so the cash-back rate and codes shown are accurate. These requests happen on your device. Cash-back activation opens Rakuten's own "Shop Now" link so the trip is recorded to your Rakuten account — we never insert our own affiliate codes.

Where data is stored

Account and watchlist data is stored on our backend (Convex). Sign-in codes and alert emails are sent through Resend. Local preferences are stored in your browser via chrome.storage.

Your choices

You can remove tracked items at any time, and you can request deletion of your account and associated data by emailing us. Uninstalling the extension stops all local activity immediately.
